He's Here!

Abram has arrived!
He's actually two weeks old today (what can I say? we've been busy!) Everyone is happy and healthy.... and sleepy but we know that's to be expected right now. Everett is all smiles about his baby brother and adjusting rather well considering his world has been turned upside down.

Our first photo as a family of four! Notice Everett's terrified expression. Mommy's hospital bed and all those wires scared the little man, he was sticking pretty close to Grandma and Papaw during his first visit to the hospital.


The next day all of that scary stuff was gone and Everett was a lot more excited to see Mommy and the baby!
Headed home! Abe was two pounds smaller than Everett was at birth, we still aren't sure what to do with our littlest little guy- he's intimidatingly tiny!

Between the new baby and this crazy man... I certainly have my hands full!

Oh! and I had to toss in the last few photos taken before the baby's arrival. Was I seriously that big... two weeks ago?! :-)

Evolution of the Nursery

This is what the "nursery" looked like when we moved into the house two years ago!



However it quickly turned into this....the catch-everything-hole-we-shut-the-door-and-act-as-though-it-doesnt-exist room

Our first purchase for the room was the dated and ugly dresser I found on Craig's list. Brian & my family looked at me a little crazy when we went to pick it up but it quickly became this...


The boys got into the helping spirit by helping me clear out the room and build the shelving system!
after painting the shelving my parents helped us hang the curtains and finish up the accent wall.
Finally the crib is up! By the way that's Frankie the nightlight dog. Everett and I are beyond obsessed with him!



The room stopped looking alot less naked when Brian hung the 12 pieces of art (I added three more later) whew!

after much debate I decided the white sheets just didn't do it for me but of course baby items come in mint green, baby blue, brown or with a $70 price tag. So I ventured into at home washing machine dyes.

Luckily the sheets and changing pad cover came out this delicious (yes I said delicious) turquoise color! Oh and surprise! There is baby boy#2's name- nickname that is.


We have found ourselves hanging out in the baby's room quite a bit. Everett loves it in there and Daddy loves that comfy chair!

This is the artwork my amazing friend Sara designed for us! They totally make the room. We have gotten a ton of compliments on them :-) She's the best.



So there's a peak into the newest room in our house. Everything is in place for baby's big arrival! I am scheduled for my C-section on February 10th. My last day at work is this Friday then I get an entire week to sleep, clean and maybe even get a haircut. :-) See you when we're parents to two beautiful boys!!

A New Year!

What a busy Holiday season we had- whew! We were lucky enough to enjoy a very nice Thanksgiving, Christmas was a blast and New Year's was just relaxing. Everett was an absolute joy to spend this time with. He really "got" the Santa thing this year, not to mention that we had a conversation about why we celebrate Christmas which he understood more than I expected. (He sang Happy Birthday to Baby Jesus, so that's something!) One of my favorite things about this Christmas besides his absolute sheer joy and excitement over his gifts was the way his little voice kept saying "Merry Christmas guys!" He's such a funny little guy.

First snow of the year and he didn't know what to think. His confusion quickly turned to snowball throwing, snowman building happiness :-)

He was very concerned however when his "Noman" melted last week.
Ev really enjoyed decorating cookies with all the little kids the day after Thanksgiving. My big extended family gets together at our Grandma's and we bake and make ornaments for her tree.

This was a common occurrence- Ev loved loved loved to check out the toy ads.

Our family also has a tradition that we visit a German Cafe/Bakery a couple of weeks before Christmas. Its always fun to go and have a traditional German lunch and then buy our annual Christmas Cookies. Everett and Papaw got their picture taken with this same gnome last year....

the difference a year will make!

After getting this super cute Reindeer with light up Christmas lights on his antlers Everett informed his Papaw that the similar deer mounted on my uncles wall was the "mommy reindeer." They had to get this picture!

Christmas Morning! I love the still-half-asleep look. He told me that morning that he was "so excited!"

Everett started The New Year off right.... with peanut butter toast and...
his new twin bed. (Complete with Toy Story Comforter of course!)

Now that the holidays are complete it really puts into perspective what little time we have left before Baby Boy #2 makes his arrival. Tomorrow is the 34 week mark. I will be delivering on Feb 9th .... which is exactly five weeks from tomorrow!

The nursery is nearly complete and in the next couple weeks I will start washing up baby clothes and getting everything in its place. Eeek! Everett is definitely grasping the idea of the new baby (especially after seeing my cousin Angie's baby girl). He has been informing anyone that asks that we are having a baby but that he's asleep in mommy's belly.... which he came up with on his own. He's getting excited about being a big brother and Brian and I are getting excited about introducing the two of them. 2011 is sure to be an adventure!
